Blog prompt
Blog Prompt for Sec 1s:Would all Sec 1 students please interview a parent about a book that impacted your father or mother and still resonates with them today. It might have been because of the author's style, the topic or perhaps there was such a profound message that your parents remember the book to this day. The entry should be 150- 200 words with the title: Father's Memorable Read or Mother's Memorable Read. Feeling really energetic, interview both Mom and Dad! Thank you,
Mr. Spelmer
My mother has read the book “Not without my daughter” written by Betty Mahmoody, and she feels that this book still resonates with her until today because of the great story line. She likes this book as it is a harrowing true story of a mother’s courage. She was able to escape from her Iranian husband, but each attempt she failed miserably as she did not want to escape without her daughter. My mother also feels that the book is very interesting and thrilling. While reading the book, she just simply wanted to read it quickly and know what had happened in the end, such that she did not manage to restrain herself from flipping to the last few pages to discover what had happened in the end. She also finds the book very factual and feels that she had learned a lot from the book. For example, the book talks about the culture in Iran. My mother feels lucky to be a Singaporean as the woman in Iran has no say at all. In conclusion, she feels that the book is worth reading and has even made her feel like she is a character in the story, thus this is a book which still resonates with her till today.
